Selena Gomez Going to Host the 2011 MTV VMA Pre-Show

On Friday, The MTV network announced that Selena Gomez is set to host the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show on August 28.

 Gomez said in a statement to MTV that, "I am very excited to be a part of the 2011 VMAs! After all of my years watching the VMAs, the pre-show has always been one of my favorite parts. It is a true honor to be hosting from the black carpet this year." 

 

According to the press release, The 18-year-old actress will be "reporting breaking news and interviewing her peers alongside MTV News correspondents Sway, Jim Cantiello and James Montgomery,"

The Awards show is slated to have performances by Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Adele and Other. The band Cobra Starship is scheduled to perform during the pre-show, which will also include an exclusive teaser from "Jersey Shore."

Fans can give their valuable vote throuh online in general Video Music Award categories like Video of the Year, but are except from voting in the professional categories like Best Art Direction.
