Saif and Deepika to appear on KBC

Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone will appear as special guests on the fifth season of the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, which starts off August 15 with megastar Amitabh Bachchan as the host.

"One interesting candidate and the entire anxiety of the working of the show just flies past .. we had a few today and tomorrow is another day .. let us hope that all goes well .. the second episode towards the evening will have invites to Saif and Deepika .. who come to promote their film and mine as well - Aarakshan !!!"Amitabh posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.

"In many ways, the philosophy of the film and that of KBC is quite similar. Given opportunity, even the lesser privileged shall prosper. Or at least have the capacity to prosper," he wrote.

However, Mumbai rains played spoilsport as the production unit had to stall the shooting of the show several times due to the noise of the rain.

"The rains have been incessant.. and so harsh that we had to stop shooting KBC at times, because of the noise factor. But all in all a most satisfying day ... harsh and hard, but satisfactory," Amitabh said.

Saif had previously appeared with actress Preity Zinta in the second season of the show, while Deepika came as a guest last year although she didn't play.

Rom-Coms are happening..

Rom-coms have always seemed to work in favour of actress-turned producer Preity Zinta. After all, films like Saalam Namaste and Dil Chahta Hai were some of her biggest hits till date. So, when she turned producer, it was perhaps only natural that Preity was biased towards this genre to kick start her production house.

A source close to Zinta says that chances are high that her debut film as a producer will also be a breezy romantic-comedy, which will give the audiences enough chances to flash their own dimples. “Preity thinks that today’s audience connects with rom-coms and that they are ageless. She has finalised on such a script that will be directed by Prem Soni. The film is fresh in its idea and, of course, Preity thinks that this is going to work with the audience.”

The actress is also apparently considering making another film which she doesn’t want to discuss because it is still in the planning stage. “The second film that she will be making is a little different and is still in the planning stage, so she doesn’t want to talk about it yet. But Preity doesn’t want to move drastically away from formula films. Preity wants to make out-and-out commercial films for the time being.”

With the launch of her production house, it is expected that the actress will now devote more time to the company than her cricketing duties but the source says that it is not the case.

“There’s no question that Preity will appoint somebody to look after her cricketing responsibilities. She is totally clued in there also. We are all wondering how she will manage both, but she is confident of her abilities.”

Preity turns Filmmaker..

After actresses Dia Mirza, Lara Dutta and Ameesha Patel, it’s now time for Preity Zinta to turn filmmaker. Sources close to the actor confirmed that Preity is ready with her production house and will be producing two films initially.

“The plans have been finalised now. She’s in talks to produce two films and will be acting in one of them. She is having numerous meetings and story sitting sessions and is hunting for more scripts right now,” confirmed a close friend of the actress.

Sources also say that the first film that will be off the block will be a collaboration project with filmmaker Prem Soni. Preity did a guest appearance for his last film in an item song.

“Prem Soni and Preity recently met and Prem narrated the script (which is tentatively titled Paris). Preity also evinced interest in playing the female lead of the film and Prem readily accepted the offer. The hero of the film has not been decided yet,” the source adds. Preity’s second film is also been locked in while the star-cast is yet to be decided.

“Preity has been toying with the idea of opening a production house for a long time. Long before Ameesha and Dia thought of doing it. But because she was so busy with her TV assignments, she didn’t get a chance to take it further. Right now, the sole focus of her attention will shift to her production company,” the source adds, maintaining that she will still be committed to her cricket team when the games season begin again.

However, this doesn’t mean that Preity is going to cut down on her acting assignments. “She’s open to everything that she’s been doing so far. The production house will only do one or two films a year depending on exigencies. Preity will continue to work the way she’s been working and is eager to sign a good movie soon,” the source ends.

Controversial Koffee gets Preity furious

Preity Zinta demands an apology from Tusshar Kapoor for his comment about her on a TV show

Preity Zinta is furious with Tusshar Kapoor for his statement on Karan Johar's TV show. In a still-to-be-aired episode, the host asked his guest 'who comes to mind when I say the following things.'

One of the prompts was botox/cosmetic surgery, to which Tusshar repled: Preity Zinta. When this bit of news reached the actress, she was livid. She called Karan to complain and requested him to delete the offending question.

A source close to her says, "Preity doesn't talk rubbish about anyone. She sees no reason why Tusshar, who she hasn't even worked with, should take off on her without provocation." Not one to take an insult lying down, PZ called Tusshar to fire him and demanded an apology. He told her that he regretted making the statement.

Tusshar confirms, "Preity called me. She was upset and I cleared my stand." He clarifies why he made the comment on the show. "Everyone knows that Karan's rapid fire round is just for laughs. You don't even have the time to think when Karan puts you in the dock. Recently, I saw Preity's picture in a magazine and she was looking stunning having lost a lot of weight. So, when Karan asked, Preity's name just came out at the spur of the moment. There's nothing more to it." he says.

He continues, "I've loved Preity since Soldier. I didn't mean to hurt her and I'm feeling bad that my comment turned into such an ugly controversy. I'm glad that we spoke and sorted it out rather than letting it snowball into something worse. I don't even know what botox actually is, and why will I say something like this about someone who I truly respect." When asked if the said question had been deleted, he said, "I don't know. Maybe some of what I said might have been edited out," the Golmaal actor concludes.

Preity back after losing seven kgs.

After two years' break from acting, Preity Zinta has decided to wear the grease paint, but before that she has to get back in shape .

"This year for me is about getting back into movies and the entertainment industry. I had let myself go for some time because I had taken a break. I had put on seven-and-a-half kg. But then I lost all of it because I can't afford to look like that in a film," Preity told IANS.

Asked to reveal the names of the projects she is working on, the 36-year-old declined.

"I'll start working on films this year for sure, but my lips are sealed. Announcement will come from the producers. But I'll be doing some real cool films," she added.

Preity back with a bang

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta is once again sporting the permed hair look that she popularised in her 2001 film " Dil Chahta Hai".

For a long time, the bubbly beauty had been flaunting straight hair. But when Preity took up the role as the host of Colors' " Guinness World Records - Ab India Todega", she opted for the permed look.

"Preity loves to experiment and can carry off almost everything with style and panache. She has now permed her hair and it won't be too long before the trend catches on since she is a trendsetter in her own right. She has been receiving compliments and everyone is raving about her new look," said a source.
