Raveena romancing her boy toy in 'Shobhana 7 Nights'

In Shobhana 7 Nights, Raveena plays a 40-something columnist-author who is abused by her husband (played by Rohit Roy). She finds solace in a young man(Amit Purohit), one of the many strugglers in Bollywood.

It’s being reported that Raveena’s character gets into an intense relationship with her boytoy, played by newcomer Amit Purohit.

Raveena's first reaction was to turn down the role since the character was a bit bold as she hasn’t attempted a kissing or a love making scene so far in her career. The thought of doing a film where she gets into a relationship with a younger man freaked her out.

Two things convinced Raveena to take up the role. One was Chattopadhyaya’s earlier film (Pankh) that left her impressed with his work. Further, Tandon was reportedly challenged by the role in Shobhana 7 Nights.

“The director assured Raveena that this could get her the second National Award if she attempted the role. She had reason to disbelieve him,” says the source.

When contacted, Raveena confirmed that she will take the challenge head on. “I haven’t done anything like this. As a performing artiste, I need to explore characters unlike those I have portrayed. It is a bold subject but I’m spared sleazy scenes,” she says.

The 36-year-old, who has moved into a new house, is hard pressed for time.

Raveena is a busy housewife

Raveena is a hands on housewife. Right now, her new house is being done up and she's spending a lot of time by personally selecting things like curtains and tiles.

She wants the house to represent who she really is and what she feels, so much that she searched for a Shiv Parvati murthi of a particular black stone for her new house personally.

She wanted the statue to enter her house before anyone started settling in, as Ravs is a huge believer of Shiv Parvati. She personally spent time and days to search for this particular statue for her house.

Ravishing Raveena Returns..

Raveena Tandon, who has been keeping a low profile from the big screen in recent years, will soon be sharing the screen with Amitabh Bachchan in the forthcoming film, Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap.

The 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast' girl will be performing a dance number titled 'Main Chandigarh Di Star', which has been composed by musical duo Vishal-Shekhar and sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. The item number has apparently been choreographed by Raveena's close friend, Shabina Khan.

No steamy scenes between Raveena-Big B in Buddah

She wowed fans with her mast mast antics on the silver screen before taking a sabbatical. But now, Raveena Tandon is set for a ‘comeback’. “Comeback has become a keyword in my life,” laughs Tandon. “Over the past year or so, I’ve made many comebacks with Aap Ke Liye Hum and a Bengali film, Laboratory (2010).”

This time, Raveena is geared up for a fresh outing in Bollywood with the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Buddah. The Satta actor, last spotted in Sandwich (2006), will play Big B’s love interest in Puri Jagannath’s film, also starring Hema Malini and Sonu Sood. Interestingly, she will be the third female actor – after Jiah Khan in Nishabd (2007) and Tabu in Cheeni Kum (2007) – to be paired opposite an older Bachchan. But Tandon insists she won’t be seen doing anything similar.

“I’ve always had strict rules about my portrayal on screen. I’ve been clear about not doing things I’m uncomfortable with,” says Tandon. “So, my set of principles and my laxman rekha (boundaries) will continue. In fact, I’ve to follow my principles more strictly now. I don’t want my kids (Rasha and Ranbir) to ask, ‘Mom, what were you thinking?’”

Tandon says she turned down Darr (1993) and Prem Qaid (’91) because she was not comfortable with certain sultry sequences. As for Buddah, the actor gushes, “It’s an amazingly funny script. My character has a huge crush on Big B. I’m very excited because in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (’98), I had played his sister while Aks (2001) saw him more obsessed with Manoj Bajpai.”

Tandon insists she’s open to sharing screen space with all male actors, including former flame Akshay Kumar. “If I get a good script, I’d love to work with him again. I’m not waiting with a dagger to attack Akki,” she laughs.
