Cole may join rival "BBC"

Cheryl Cole, who has been dumped from US X Factor, may take the ultimate revenge on Simon Cowell and defect to a rival network.

The singer has been offered to join talent show The Voice, which the BBC plans to launch on Saturday evenings next year.

The Voice, where judges including Christina Aguilera hear the auditions “blind” and rate the talent purely on their singing voices, is a hit in the States, where it attracts more than 12 million viewers.

Music boss David Joseph is said to be keen for Cole to promote her career and music on the show.

"Universal are heavily involved in recruiting judges for The Voice when it moves to the BBC and they are urging Cheryl to be the big star of that show," the Mirror quoted a record company source as saying.

"It would be a fresh start for her and would mean she could work with people who she trusts and who have her best interests at heart. It would also be a great way of sticking two fingers up at Simon Cowell," the source said.

Even if Cole does decide to return to ITV, the door at the BBC would remain open to her, claimed the source.

Simon upset over Cole being axed

Simon Cowell has expressed his grief over the sacking of judge Cheryl Cole from the US X Factor show.

He is said to have confided to a friend that he feels guilty and sorry that it didn't work out, reported The Sun.

Cowell reportedly said that his 'hands were tied' by network executives, who did not seem to be impressed by the 27-year-old pop star.

"He is gutted," said a source at Fox channel.

"He loves Cheryl and did everything in his power to get her on US TV. But channel chiefs just weren't happy. It was a necessary evil and he feels terribly guilty about it," the source added.

Nicole Scherzinger to replace Cheryl Cole

Getting a boost in her seemingly moribund career is Filipina-American singer Nicole Scherzinger, who has just been tapped to replace British singer Cheryl Cole as judge on “X-Factor-USA.”

Scherzinger was originally chosen as segment host of the newly-established program.

Reports weren’t clear why Cole, who was among the more popular judge-mentor of “X-Factor UK,” was dropped. Some claim the ejection was due to Cole being relatively unknown in the US. Other reports say it was her strong British accent that did her in.

There are reports as well about Cole's difficulty in mixing with the show’s other judges which include former “American Idol” host Paula Abdul and Grammy-winning producer LA Reid.

As mum on the subject is show creator and resident “X-Factor” judge Simon Cowell, who was last seen as judge on “American Idol.”

A report has it that Cowell is washing his hands of the incident and that he is pointing a finger at executives of Fox TV—the network that will air the show---among those responsible for sacking Cole.

She began a career on TV as host of her own variety show "Cheryl Cole's Night In" in 2009. She was picked by Cowell to replace Sharon Osbourne in the fifth season of “X-Factor-UK.” She returned for two more seasons before being named as judge of the American version of the show.

Scherzinger, whose real family name is Valiente, was born on June 29, 1978, in Hawaii. Her father, Alfonso Valiente, is of Filipino descent.

Scherzinger left The Pussycat Dolls last year to embark on a solo career. She has released a CD earlier this year dubbed, “Killer Love.” Prior, she released two singles, "Whatever U Like" and "Baby Love," both of which didn't fare well in the charts here and abroad. She won on "Dancing with the Stars" last year.

Cheryl Cole to dump Hough for publicity

American TV honchos have urged Cheryl Cole to dump her dancer pal Derek Hough in a bid to raise her US profile.

Executives have bluntly told her that splitting with Hough is the place to start.

Friends of the new US 'X Factor' presenter, 27, said she is torn over what to do about dancer Hough, 26, who she has been dating for nearly a year.

"Derek may be dreaming of worldwide stardom but he's seen as a small-time dancer on a TV show... and pretty uncool," the Mirror quoted the pal saying.

"TV executives are thinking that if she's going to win over Hollywood, she'd be better off doing it as a sassy and single girl-about-town," the pal added.

A friend close to Girls Aloud singer said: "Cheryl is torn. She is still very fond of Derek. However, part of her also wonders if her new life in America is the right time for a fresh start without Derek at her side".

"Show producers have told her that being single would do wonders for her image. And there would be no shortage of guys in LA lining up to go on a date with Cheryl," the friend added.

Cheryl Cole’s debut

Simon Cowell thinks she’s about to become a big hit. Now that her contract’s all ironed out, she’s officially joined US X Factor in America, showing up full pop at the auditions in LA.

I can’t decide if this is really stupid or actually really smart. What she’s wearing, I mean.

The hair is super Country Music. The pants don’t fit right. She looks like cheap, tacky hell. As though styled by Jessica Simpson. In order to appear more…relatable? Throwing down too much fashion would perhaps alienate the Audience. This lady for example, below, I’m thinking she’d much prefer Cheryl’s purple pants combination over the sartorial selections of, say, Charlotte Gainsbourg, right?
