When Amy Winehouse was found dead in her Camden, London home last month, her father Mitch insisted that she'd been off of hard drugs for over a year, and that such substances were likely not a factor in the singer's death.
Now Mitch's assertions have been confirmed by a toxicology report, according to a statement released Tuesday. While there were no illegal substances in Amy's system, alcohol was present.
Don't Miss:But a source close to the family claims that it may have been alcohol withdrawal that killed Amy, noting, "She was trying hard to deal with her drinking and had just completed three weeks of abstinence."
That abstinence may have been prompted by an abysmal live performance in Serbia in June, during which Amy forgot song lyrics, as well as the name of the city in which she was performing. After a video surfaced on YouTube, Winehouse's management canceled the remainder of her tour, citing her need for recovery.
