Actor Prithviraj tied the nuptial knot with Mumbai-based BBC journalist Supriya Menon at the Kandath heritage villa at Thenkurissy Village in Palakkad district on Monday, April 25th 2011.Supriya Menon, who arrived for the marriage along with her father Vijay K Menon and mother Padma, friends and relatives, is a native of Shantinagar in Palakkad. Heavy security was arranged at the resort in connection with the marriage.
Supriya Menon wore a gold colour cream saree while Prithviraj appeared in mundu and kurtha.
Though the local photographers and television channels were not allowed inside the resort, over a dozen private photographers covered the function.
It is learnt that even the mobile phones of over two dozen staff members of the resort were confiscated and switched off to keep the whole affair private. After the marriage Prithviraj and Supriya Menon went to Ernakulam, without speaking to the journalists waiting outside the gate.The marriage ceremony was a private affair with only close friends and family attending the intimate ceremony. His special day was far away from the spotlight and the media frenzy as he wished and has planned for a grand reception at the Le Meridien in Ernakulam on May 1.
